Danielle Mongeau

Danielle is a study abroad student from Fairfield University who is originally from Middletown, Rhode island. Spending the semester in Aix-en-Provence, France Danielle is spending her four months traveling to different parts of Europe. A first time experience for Danielle, she explains how she feels the distance from home to where she is in France diminishes as technology helps her communicate to friends and family as well as making France feel more like home.

Deborah and Paul Mongeau

Deborah and Paul Mongeau are Danielle's parents who are currently living in Rhode Island. While Danielle has been abroad, their original concerns and worries were better addressed when they realize how easy it was to contact Danielle while she was away, which they explained really closed the distance gap that there was betwen each other. In the past few weeks they were even able to take a family trip and visit Danielle in France. 

Mary and Harold Perlingiero

Mary and Harold are Danielle's grandparents, who also live down the street from the Mongeau family home in Rhode Island. Having had multiple grandchildren travel abroad, the perlingiero's have had experience communicating long distance with family overseas. The couple talks about their concerns for safety in the film and also their perspective in learning how to use new technologies.

Eduardo Padial Campeon

Eduardo "Edu" is a program director in Granada, Spain for American Institute for Foreign Study. Edu works with American students during their semester abroad from the time they land until the time they head back to the states. Edu offers insight to students traveling with new technologies such as cell phones and apps while also pointing out how it has changed studying abroad.

Justin Lee

Justin Lee is an Admissions Officer for AIFS who works with students in preparation for their semester or time abroad. Justin talks about what students are advised about communication and contact back home while abroad, and how technology has changed the dynamic of that communication. And in his opinion, he believes the benefits of these new mediums outweigh the cons.
